Facial palsy is caused by many reasons and neoplasms account for 5% of facial palsies. Although rare,
vestibular schwannoma may cause severe and recurrent facial neuropathy. A 38-year-old woman
visited our clinic with right facial palsy lasting for 2 months. She had recurrent right facial palsy at the
age of 15, 16 and 31. Physical examination revealed House-Brackmann Grade V facial palsy without
hearing loss. Gadolinium-enhanced Brain magnetic resonance imaging revealed a 0.65 cm-sized
contrast-enhanced mass lesion compatible with right acoustic schwannoma. |
